2016 SRPG On Farm Challenge

July 13, 2016

The Southern Promotion Group of Victoria (SRPG) held their third On Farm Challenge on the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend, 11th-13th June. The judge for the Challenge was well known Gippsland beef breeder, Larry Cutler.

The On Farm Challenge is an event where cattle are judged ‘on farm’ by a beef cattle judge and all animals are in paddock condition, with no preparation. It is a great way to find out the quality of the cattle you are breeding & the results can help you make decisions to improve breeding programs in the future.

This year there were 15 Victorian Lowline studs that entered a total of 75 entries. Classes include stud bulls, stud females, commercial females, pens of steers and sire’s progeny classes.
The presentation for the 2016 On Farm Challenge was held at the Ballarat Grammar Learning Centre where ribbons were awarded and each entrant received a copy of their comprehensive results.
